An original
piece by Bakti Yudha Suryana
Halt
My eyes’ sight,
yet I keep seeing
My heart ceases
beating, my lungs stop breathing (in an instant)
It is your body
that is torn asunder (I witness death)
Yet it is my
soul that stops living (I experience ‘death’)
Stare
To where your
body lie under
The smell and
sight of soil, freshly dug (blinding)
The sound of
leaves, softly rustling against the wind (deafening)
It leaves me
but one imprint (maddening)
That you are
not here, not again (not anymore)
Ask
Why?
You who painted
me a new life (to live)
You who melted
me from the ice I once was (to be warm)
You who left
me, once again (it is all over)
Shiver
As the reality
sinks in
The caress of
gentle wind
It pricks and
stings on my pale skin (it hurts)
Now that you
are gone (It’s lonely)
My world has
lost its color (eternally)
Say
With my gaze
towards the setting sun
With my heart’s
a void, my soul’s hollow
In this world
you’re no longer in
“Wait for me.”
And so...
“I’ll be there
soon.”
